Cheriwaves, my third island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Image
Cheriwaves was created because I wanted to buy the Coral Switch Lite. It's also a nod to Deftones' Cherry Waves song as it was stuck in my head. Plus its island native fruit is cherry (well it's pear, but I'm removing every pear tree). Cheriwaves will feature a theme of blue, white, and reddish/pinkish motif similar to the ocean waves with cherry. It's a work in progress where I got stuck in the middle. But since the latest 2.0 update + the expansion, I think I'll go ahead with the current theme in mind and explore the massive amount of items added. I'm imagining a splash of colour from a crash of cherry waves.  More importantly, here is to feature my top three favourite villagers of Cheriwaves (again, in no particular order) . 3. Roald Roald and I go way back in ACPG. I've had Roald twice in ACPG: as a starter villager and as someone who moved into my village from another GC memory card while fruit transferring. I thought that having a penguin was inter...

Animal Crossing: New Horizons ver. 2 update has simply won me back!

Image
Nintendo just dropped the Version 2 trailer for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and all I could say is WOW. This free MAJOR Content Update will hit on November 5, 2021. Well done, Nintendo! If you haven't played ACNH yet, the trailer below has answered a lot of the fan requests and they even added more! Honestly, those who have played ACNH before this version will truly appreciate these new additions more. Here is the list of the additional content, new gameplay, and improvements. Brewster is back and his cafe is in the Museum. Villagers and town staff can also visit. You can call other NPCs via Amiibo accessory. Other players can also relax in the cafe. Kapp'n is back with his own Boat Tours to visit mysterious islands! New resources can be found on these mysterious island tours. Harv Island has been significantly expanded! New shops can be set up on Harv Island such as: Harriet's salon is here so we can expect more hairstyles!  Sketch's shoe shop is a welcome addition. ...

Finally! Brewster is confirmed on Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

Brewster, our favorite pigeon coffee barista, is coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the upcoming fall update on November. On the teaser trailer dropped by Nintendo Direct, The Roost 24-7 will open on the museum upon the steps to the left before the art gallery. It's funny that they made an announcement that they'll make an announcement on a later date. More information will be revealed on October 1 as we've finally crossed the autumn season. Brewster made his first appearance in Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo 3DS. His coffee shop was a regular hang out spot for villagers and shopkeepers. Brewster has been missed dearly since players want to set up a coffee shop on their island. In fact, he has been rumored if not requested since the first summer update to ACNH. Does this mean that Nintendo is listening to the fans or have they sensed that ACNH is on the decline? If they did listen to what the fans want, one would wonder who else will make their deserve...

COVID in times of Animal Crossing

Image
October is the month of birthdays in my family. My heart sank and my brain blanked when I tested positive for COVID-19 on October of last year. I drove to the nearest mobile test center one early morning with my Nintendo Switch and Animal Crossing: New Horizons within an arm's reach on the car seat. It was raining and the scene outside was a dreadful gray; the radio was nothing but a droning noise as the chatter left no impression; I watch other folks wait for the bus going about their day, while I sat in the car a little envious of their normal day. I distracted myself with ACNH while the car dove forward a few feet at a time in the queue of vehicles until it was my turn to get the nasal-pharyngeal swab. Those two hours in the car were filled with uncertainty about what was going to happen. As usual my animal friends convinced and cheered for me that things will be okay. It was 2008 when I bought my Nintendo Gamecube while I was working for an inventory company. We started living ...

My Second Island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Image
While my younger sibling borrowed my OG Switch for a few months, I just had to resume my Animal Crossing: New Horizons play through another way. ACNH was still a new game, there was a lot to discover, and since we're stuck in a pandemic, it didn't make sense why I shouldn't be able to play after paying the full "Nintendo" price for it. The irony is I had to spend for a Nintendo Switch Lite. How logical. But I scored one away from the scalpers. A Switch  Lite was an expensive workaround, but I didn't want to miss out and I can afford the new hardware. I named my second island Bethsaida. My naming sequence follows the letters of the alphabet: Alderman is first, and now Bethsaida is second. I wasn't sharing this island, so the map was my own canvas. Bethsaida is an urban island village with a couple of market districts, an infinity pool, and an elevated green house. There are three types of residential zones: a strip of beachfront villas, a ground-level villa...

Animal Crossing: New Horizons update will let you teleport!

Image
Valentine's Day and the Festivale holiday ended, and I enjoyed them, but a new Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer update drops via Nintendo Direct with new Super Mario themed items coming over to our islands next week. To celebrate the 35th anniversary, Super Mario themed items are coming into the game on March 1, while the update will be released on February 25, 2021. These items will be available via Tom Nook shopping.  Moreover, March 20th is also approaching which will mark Animal Crossing: New Horizon's first anniversary. Honestly, I think New Horizon players, new and old, will use this date so that they can stream more of their games. Looking back, there has been plenty of updates that have gone our way including the summer update - namely swimming (which southern hemisphere players are currently enjoying). The update is perfect for those players who wish to turn their island into a obstacle course,  but the warp pipe is simply the most useful item out of this updat...

My First Island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Image
Animal Crossing was one of the first games that I bought when I got my Nintendo GameCube. I skipped the N64 after Famicom, so I wanted to reacquaint myself with Nintendo. The Internet was still new back then, but I've been hearing fun things about Animal Crossing from friends, and magazines, so I wanted to see what's the big deal.  Animal Crossing: Population Growing for the Nintendo GameCube was a game that piqued my curiosity when I read on the back-cover that it's supposedly synced to real-time, which means new things are happening in the game even if I'm not playing. The truth is still charming though when the game is simply tied to the system's clock, where the days and nights are synced on the game as well as the current season. Such a captivating premise was unlike any current farming or life sims back then; in addition, Animal Crossing did not demand of anything from me; there was no deadline, no healt...

Animal Crossing: New Horizons update will add Festivale event and more!

Image
It's going to get busy again on the island! Image source: @chosenground Another free update has been announced on animal-crossing.com for the winter! Since Animal Crossing: New Horizons' initial release last March 20, we've seen two major updates sporting big events, namely the Summer update which reintroduced swimming and new critters, and the Fall update with pumpkin farms and seasonal holidays. Now, we're going to see the winter update with Pavé the dancing peacock and the Festivale event taking place on February 15. There will be other seasonal items to celebrate since Valentine's Day, Groundhog Day, and Big Game Celebrations are coming up. What's important is that Nintendo announced the next upcoming free update after this. I do want to ask, why they call it a "free" update. Does this mean there will be a "paid" update or is it more for Marketing as free is an incentive word.  The peacock on this event, Pavé, is a returning character and...
